What a great post. I love libraries and the librarians who make such a difference. Like you, I had a great relationship with my high school's librarians. There were three ladies. I'm sorry, I don't remember their names. They introduced me to so many great authors and books. They took the time to listen to me and encourage me. I will be forever in their debt.

You pay it forward every day, my friend.

Liz, I love this essay! Libraries are so important, and it's clear as a student librarian, you learned so much from Mrs. B. What a wonderful influence she was!

I'm lucky because my public library is awesome, and I am always floored by the staff's knowledge and helpfulness.

Sounds like your library experience was so important in your life as a kid, and that this knowledge extends to your life as an adult.

Lovely piece!

I don't think I'd have become a writer without the libraries in my life. I am so grateful for them.
